CIS 265

What I've Learned in CIS 265 So Far...

So far in my CIS 265 class I have learned how to format paragraphs and characters.  This helps with improving the overall appearance of the type of document I am trying to create. I have learned how to apply pictures, clip arts, etc. to my documents and adding effects to them as well. I was also taught how to create a research paper using the proper guidelines and how to follow the MLA documentation style. For the MLA documentation style we also needed to learn how to insert a citation placeholder and enter the source information for the citation. If any mistakes were made during this process we also practiced how to edit a citation. The part that I found most useful was when we were able to set up Word to format the Works Cited page, Word is able to put each element of the source and place it where it needs to be with proper punctuation, according to the MLA format. I also learned how to design a creative letter head and write a proper business letter. If it wasn’t for this class I would have never been interested in creating a blog or twitter account. However, I found that twitter can really open up opportunities for making some important connections that can benefit me in the future. Having this blog can do the same, but it allows me to expand more on topics I choose to discuss and really go into depth about what I think rather than be limited to a few words on twitter.

I really appreciate the thorough teaching instructions given to us by our professor when learning each step. This allows for every student to be successful in understanding what to so, and it makes the classwork/homework less stressful. However, personally, I am not technology savvy at all and I fear taking tests on all of the subjects we've covered so far without being able to use my notes or book to refer back to. But, it is like any other class I am taking, and I have to learn how to study by just practicing over and over what we have covered so far.
