Week 3: What I have learned in CIS 265

So far in CIS 265 I have learned that I can use "snipping tool" to take pictures of things that pop up on my desk top.  Before taking this class I had no idea how to create a blog.  Now I know how to add pictures, and how to add hyperlinks so that whoever is viewing my blog can click on the hyperlink and view the website it is linked to.  I also learned how to change the template on my blog so that I can customize it to add my own unique style. Lastly, I learned how to add gadgets to my blog and embed my favorite video as well.

One of my favorite videos is "Knock Knock".

Daniel Beaty, is a spoken word poet and performs his poem "Knock Knock".  It is about a man who grows up without a father because his father went to jail when he was very young.  His message is extremely powerful and worth hearing.  Since I am a single mother this really hit home for me because I often wonder how my son's will cope without having their dad around.  Do they feel abandoned? Do they even care that he is not involved as much? Do they blame themselves for his absence?  This message gave me a different perspective to look at, and even gave me some hope that my son's can grow up with out the pressure of becoming just another statistic.  Of course I know that their lives and futures are ultimately in God's hands, but it is always refreshing to see/hear positive messages like this one.
